FKFicFest: Are you in?
I'm working on my prompt slate, how about you?
According tobrightknightie, 5 signups are in and 2 more (including mine) are promised. We need a total of at least 9 people to do an exchange.
We've had exchanges every year for the first five fests. So why mess with a good thing? There's gotta be at least two more people out there who want to try their hand at writing some FK (and I know there's still plenty of people who love the show)!

fkficfest is a low-pressure thing and we get a few months to figure out what we want to write after getting a prompt slate, and it doesn't matter how much writing experience you have, or whether you think you're "good enough." Joining up is all about reveling in the fandom love!
If you're a newbie with questions, and feeling too timid to talk to Our Fearless Moderator ( you know I loves ya, Amy :) ), just post a question to me in the comments here below. Even though I'm not a mod in the fest, I've been there for every single one, so I can tell you true how this goes down for a participant. Don't be shy, kids--ask your questions, you'll get the answers, and I'm able to ease any doubts. And you can comment anonymously on this entry, if you want, 'cos I'm cool like that (though they'll be screened at first, to avoid bots spamming the hell outta me).

(Just from sheer curiosity, may I ask, are you a long-time FK fan, or did you discover FK more recently?)

As to my fan status, that's a bit more involved. I've been a fan since the beginning. My husband introduced me to the show when we were stationed at Fort Drum, NY, which was close enough to Ontario to receive Canadian broadcast TV, so we only watched the Canadian version of the show. Incidentally, the Canadians do a great job covering the Olympics. We got spoiled!
The end of the third season roughly coincided with the arrival of our first child. I left active duty and was distracted by family for the next "few" years. As a result, I enjoyed reruns when I happened upon them, but wasn't a passionate fan.
Last Fall, that changed. My youngest child, whom I'd homeschooled, entered public school. All of a sudden, for the first time in many, many years, I had time on my hands. I decided to revisit some of my favorite shows from the 90's, and ordered FK on DVD. I was hooked all over again.
By Thanksgiving, I'd discovered fan fiction online. It was an entry into an entire world I wasn't even aware was out there!
In the middle of this new, delightful discovery, my husband said something I'd waited decades to hear. "The boys will be gone next weekend. Why don't we go out?"
I grew up attending theater, ballet, symphony, etc., but had left that behind for baseball (little league thru pro games), Boy Scouts, and other boy-centered activities. Cultural activities became a scheduling challenge.
When the opportunity to "go out" arose, I quickly settled on tickets to the Tempest, at the local Shakespeare theater. We arrived at the theater with no time to spare, and were seated just as the house lights went down. The first act was wonderful, and I really enjoyed the performance of the actor portraying Prospero.
Imagine my surprise at the intermission, when I finally had the chance to glance at the program ... It was Ger!
I had a most unusual reaction to that wonderful coincidence: I started writing down the ideas for my own fanfiction stories that had been swimming in the back of my mind. I wrote up a couple of them and my sister liked them (my eldest son didn't, but what does he know, anyway).
I decided to quit lurking and take the plunge, and here I am. A long answer to a short question, but you did ask! :)
Thanks for that, by the way. There are no other FK fans in my immediate circle, and that story of accidentally finding Ger onstage is just not as dramatic when told to anyone else!
